Rejected from 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' by calling her fat, used to call her Panauti, Shilpa Shirodkar broke her silence after years

Shilpa Shirodkar, a popular heroine of the 90s, has been making headlines recently for speaking candidly about her personal and professional life. The actress, known for her memorable performances in films like Kishan Kanhaiya, Pratiksha, Aankhen, Khuda Gawah, and Gopi Kishan, has opened up about being body-shamed in the industry and losing out on the opportunity to feature in the superhit song Chaiyya Chaiyya from Dil Se.

In a recent interview with Times of India, Shilpa shared that Farah Khan had offered her the song, but she lost the opportunity to Malaika Arora due to her weight. She also revealed that while her weight never came in the way of her work when she was active in the industry, she fears that she might not get work now if she were to debut today.

Despite the setbacks, Shilpa acknowledged that she had received support from many people in the industry, including her co-actors, producers, and technicians. She recalled an incident where Anil Kapoor had taken her photo album to Hyderabad to show it to a producer, which eventually led to her getting a role in the film.

Shilpa also spoke emotionally about Mithun Chakraborty, who played a pivotal role in reviving her career. After losing out on two films, Susan Ki Beti and Junglee, people started calling her Jinx. But Mithun Da offered her a role in Corruption, which helped her career get back on track.

In addition to her film career, Shilpa also shared about her personal life. She married a UK-based banker in 2000 and moved to London with him, where they have a daughter named Anushka. She also spends time with her sister Namrata Arora and her husband, South Superstar Mahesh Babu, when they visit London.

Overall, Shilpa's candid and heartfelt interview offers insight into the challenges faced by actors in the industry and the importance of support from colleagues and friends. Her story is a reminder that despite setbacks, one can persevere and find success with determination and the help of others.
